In the non-invasive procedure, our surgeons make use of injectable or derma fillers to tighten the skin and provide a much youthful appearance. However, this procedure is commonly used for removing wrinkles. The invasive surgery is used to remove excess fat, facial folds and for loose skin. The entire facelift surgery procedure takes around 2 to 6 hours.
The surgery procedure begins with administration of local anesthesia along with intravenous sedation. In majority of cases, general anesthesia is preferred because it relaxes facial muscle in a better manner. After this, incisions are made depending upon whether full or mini facelift has to be performed. The incisions are made behind the ears and jaws in the hairline. After this the surgeon carefully lift the skin to tighten the underneath muscles and tissues. Finally the excess skin and fat is removed to correct the face contours. After the completion of the procedure, the skin is adjusted and incisions are closed with stitches or staples.
Tips for Easy Recovery
In order to speed up the recovery process after the surgery, patients need to keep few tips in mind that will save them from unnecessary complications and difficulties.
- Avoid consuming alcohol, smoking or any other medications like aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs or herbal supplements that inhibit healing.
- Prefer wearing loose and comfortable button down shirts, to prevent pulling it over the face
- Arrange for some necessary items like ice bags, ointments, gauze, napkins, pillows and a thermometer at home during the recovery time.
- Ask someone to drop you home while getting discharged from clinic.
